The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has been urged to expedite approval of a $178 million natural gas pipeline project through five central Pennsylvania counties.
UGI of Sunbury’s ability to complete the 34-mile project in a timely manner will be threatened if the approval is not given by the end of the year, FERC was told this week in a letter.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the state Department of Environmental Resources require tree clearing for certain segments of the project be completed by March 31, UGI director Anthony C. Cox wrote.
And, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has restrictions on when stream crossings may occur so not to interfere with trout stocking or reproduction of wild trout, he said.
