Bradford County, Pa., commissioners Daryl Miller and Doug McLinko are opposed to Gov. Tom Wolf’s proposal to impose a severance tax on Marcellus Shale drilling companies, asserting it will hurt jobs and cost the county millions of dollars in impact fees. “It would be a job killer,” McLinko said. “Most people in our county are employed locally and they’re scared.” If the severance tax passes, McLinko fears the shale industry, which produces so much natural gas that it can be exported, would not expand. The Marcellus Shale region is the world’s second largest natural gas reserve.
